Northeastern POPS

Now we know EXACTLY what happens when Drops of Jupiter collides with Stars and Stripes Forever: an unforgettable hand-clapping, toe-tapping evening of amazing music.

Northeastern POPS 2014 brought together the unique talents of Grammy Award-winning pop group Train and the world's most famous orchestra, The Boston Pops, at Matthews Arena on Thursday, May 1, and it was an event like no other. The Pops opened the show with a selection of compositions, including stirring renditions of Devil's Dance from "Witches of Eastwick" and Suite from "The Natural," not to mention a stunning cover of the Led Zeppelin classic, Stairway to Heaven.

After a brief intermission, Train joined the Pops on stage.

With flawless precision, the Pops backed Train as it barreled down the tracks through a fantastic mix of old and new tunes, including chart-topping singles Drive By, Hey Soul Sister, Calling All Angels, and Meet Virginia, the "first song you ever heard by Train," said lead singer Pat Monahan.
