Fresh off their third World Series title in 10 seasons, the Boston Red Sox nearly had more than they could handle in their annual spring training game against Northeastern University. The Huskies held a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning before the defending world champions pulled ahead to stay and posted a 5-2 win at JetBlue Park on Thursday, Feb. 27.
But it certainly didn't quell the spirits of the more than 700 members of Husky Nation who attended the 11th annual Huskies vs. Red Sox Cookout and Spring Training Game. Prior to the game, alumni, family, and friends of the university gathered for a delicious barbecue and an opportunity to thank coach Neil McPhee, BB'68, for his amazing 29 years of guidance of the Northeastern baseball program. McPhee announced earlier this winter that he will retire at the conclusion of the current season.
This event continues to be one of our most popular of the year and we're already looking forward to next year's cookout and game. Hope to see you there!
