Dean Search
In August, Dean Emily Spieler announced she would step down as dean at
the end of the academic year. After a one-year sabbatical, she will
return to teaching. The university has begun the search for a successor
to step into the deanship in the summer of 2012.
In particular,
the law school seeks a dean who will collaborate with the faculty to
articulate a vision and strategic plan that will advance the school’s
national and international leadership in experiential legal education
and in legal scholarship and teaching dedicated to the public good.
Candidate backgrounds will include exemplary achievements in the field
of law with strategic leadership ability; outstanding interpersonal and
communication skills; collaborative and creative energy; and a passion
for the unique missions of both the school and the university.
The university has retained Witt/Kieffer, a national executive search
firm, to assist in this search. The search committee is eager for input
from alumni/ae. You are encouraged to submit nominations and suggestions
for candidates whom you think would be strong leaders for the School of
Law.
Confidential inquiries and nominations may be directed to
the consultants supporting this search, Jean A. Dowdall, PhD, and
Sheila Murphy. Please send your nominations to smurphy@wittkieffer.com or call the office of Donna Janulis at 630.575.6131.

bizarre military hearings and the willful blindness of the public to
what was happening behind barbed wire. Followed by a discussion with
the audience and a distinguished panel of experts. Boston Playwrights'
Theatre, 949 Commonwealth Avenue.
